Juniper Networks Announces Intelligent Edge via Social Media Release - huh?
Juniper is targeting the service providers with a product that they send via a social media release. I will spare the analysis on Juniper (who I think is well positioned to take Cisco share) for now and instead focus on why this social media press release really isn’t social.
What makes this press release social? The only difference from a standard boring press release is the addition of links to rich media files - in fact the content of this release really isn’t saying anything. Also the flash support for the media files is not sharable. There is no sharing capabilities to even embed the video on this blog. No ability to comment.
Why am focused on this…because I blogged two weeks ago about Junipers opportunity to take down some serious market share from Cisco because of Cisco’s moves into the compute market. Cisco is ruffling feathers with their top OEMs. That was a conversation worth having but no one from Juniper wanted to talk about it. Most of Junipers customers might want to hear about that conversation or maybe not. Maybe Juniper doesn’t see this opportunity to take Cisco’s customers away.
This social media release doesn’t really work in that it doesn’t engage me or provide the ability to be engaging.
Social media grade: D
This is Juniper’s social media release or should I say biased monologue press release.
